This hike begins with a hike up to the road above Kasbah Africa following a local footpath. We cross the road and hike up through the countryside with a beautiful mix of wildflowers and olive groves. We see amazing views of the entire Azzaden Valley as we slowly ascend to a mountain pass. Our guide will point out interesting flora and birdlife en route.

Next we head west around the mountainside and enjoy fine views of the Ouirgane Valley. We descend to the original Berber hamlet of Marigha, still mainly constructed of traditional mud-built dwellings. There are a couple of small 'hanuts' with snacks and refreshments available. We pass Marigha's old ruined Kasbah and continue to Tinzert.

The salt pans of Tinzert are a striking sight. Here brine is drawn by hand from a deep well in a rubber bucket and guided to salt pans to evaporate in the sun. The salt is then cleaned, bagged and transported by mule to local markets for sale. We return to Kasbah Africa on a different route, mainly following irrigation canals. This is a moderate day hike with varied terrain, seldom flat.
