We travel from the tranquility of Kasbah Africa up into the higher valleys of the High Atlas Mountains and Toubkal National Park. Here, in the shadow of Mount Toubkal, we experience a mixture of ancient Berber lifestyles and agriculture juxtaposed with a busy modern trekking centre. En route you will visit the busy market town of Asni which is a buzz of activity as local Berbers sell and buy produce and goods. Saturday is market day.

The final stretch of the journey to Imlil twists and turns up through the fertile Mizzane Valley. Once in Imlil, the bustling trekking centre for the High Atlas, you’ll meet-up with a local guide and discuss your itinerary for the day. We recommend a lovely walk (or mule ride) from Imlil to the village of Aremd (approx. 1 hour 30 minutes walking each way via two different routes). Alternatively, you can continue to Aremd by 4×4 (15 minute drive) and walk back to Imlil, or drive both ways.

Lunch is a leisurely local affair, taken in a typical Berber village house in Aremd. Enjoy a home-cooked three course meal of Moroccan salad, couscous with chicken or perhaps a tasty vegetable tagine, fresh seasonal fruits, and tea. After lunch you have time to discover more of the village and gaze at the views of Jebel Toubkal (which dominate the horizon), before heading back to Imlil and onwards to Kasbah Africa.
